One of the challenges people are experiencing with this corona virus is that there is no drug treatment there’s no antiviral treatment as of yet to treat the corona virus.

We have to rely upon other things to help people who are having trouble breathing obviously need to go to the hospital and get respiratory treatments. Other than that, it’s usually just supportive treatment and conventional medicine.

Now in integrative medicine, we do use proactive measures. We’ll use things like intravenous vitamin C, When vitamins are used intravenously, we get 100 times the blood level and does have a direct anti-viral effect. As a matter of fact, vitamin C used intravenously has been shown to generate more hydrogen peroxide. Sounds strange, but your immune system actually produces hydrogen peroxide in your white blood cells to wipe out pathogens like viruses.

So we use high doses of intravenous vitamin C, 20-25 grams, 50 grams or more. So this is very common across America with integrative doctors so it’s something you should be aware of.

It’s an option for people that have infections whether it be viral infections bacterial infections. Sometimes it can be used by itself. It can be used with other medical treatments, but intravenous vitamin C does have an anti-viral effect as well. Intravenous vitamin C reduces inflammation and a lot of the symptoms people get whether it be the flu or other viral infections is from the inflammatory compounds released by the body. So actually you get a reduction in pain and inflammation by getting intravenous vitamin C.

The doctors at our clinic, Stengler Center for Integrative Medicine, all four of us have been trained in intravenous vitamin C and we use it quite a bit with patients during the winter season.
