VIDEO: The Secret Link Between Diabetes and Hormone Imbalance

An imbalance in your hormone levels can influence your body's ability to regulate blood sugar levels. Watch this video and learn about this important factor that most doctors don't test for and address.

Hi, I’m Dr. Mark Stengler from the Stengler Center. And today I want to talk about Type 2 Diabetes and the connection to hormone imbalance. A lot of people aren’t familiar with this but up to 40 percent of the American population either has pre-diabetes. where you have elevated blood sugar levels or they have Type 2 Diabetes which are even higher levels which is a disease. So we want to treat the root causes of why people have Type 2 Diabetes. Most people are familiar with the concept that too many calories in a diet too much sugar obviously are factors, a low fiber diet, not enough exercise, but what about the hormone imbalance. For example the stress hormone Cortisol that causes your blood sugar levels to rise. As well it causes you to gain weight and fat which also lead to Diabetes. So by balancing the stress hormone Cortisol that in the long run can help with your blood sugar balance and this is something that most doctors don't test and deal with. And with holistic medicine we have very good protocols through stress reduction techniques, through dietary supplements, we can address stress hormone levels like high Cortisol as well in both men and women. Imbalances of Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone, and Thyroid. They also influence your blood sugar regulation. And so you want to have those tested and balanced naturally and a good holistic doctor can help you with that. And so by balancing your hormones you can have better blood sugar balance.
