Making The Most of Your Visit

Make-the-most-of-your-visitAs a patient, there are a few things you can do to make the most of your visit with Dr. Stengler. The better prepared you are, the more effective your visit will be.

1. Complete the New Patient Form

If you are a new patient, it is very important to complete this comprehensive form ahead of your appointment. This will give our doctors the information he needs to properly diagnose and treat you. In addition to information about your current health, he needs to know your health history, an allergies you may have, medications and supplements you are taking, health habits and other factors that affect your health.

Some key items to bring are:

a. Bring a list of all Medications and Nutritional Supplements you are currently taking. It is very important for our doctors to know all of the medication you take on a regular basis. This includes all over-the-counter and prescription medicines. Also be sure to bring a comprehensive list of all the vitamins, minerals, and other nutritional supplements you are taking to your initial visit. (There is a space for this information on the New Patient Form)
b. Bring a list of your other physicians. The more information you can provide the better. Inform our doctors what motivated you to schedule your appointment with him and if you are seeing any other specialists or physicians.

2. Bring a List of Questions

Keep an ongoing list of questions between visits that you would like to ask. Keep note of any changes in mood, diet, memory, sexual function, etc., you may be experiencing. Write down symptoms, duration of the condition, frequency, and so on. The more specific and honest you are about what’s bothering you, the better we will be able to help you.

3. Bring a Family Member or Friend With You to Your Appointment

Feel free to bring a friend or family member with you. You will likely be receiving quite a bit of information and it can be very helpful to have another set of ears to help you remember the details about your visit. Of course, you are always encouraged to call our office with any questions or concerns.
